Asus Zenfone 8

Zenfone has announced its Zenfone 8 & 8 Flip. There's No Zenfone 8 Mini as we were expecting. There are only two phones - Zenfone 8 & 8 Flip.

Apple does have a compact flagship but In the Android world there are not many compact flagship phones & Zenfone 8 finally arrives in this space.

Today we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Zenfone 8 Series & will it succeed in Indian Market ?

Android compact flagship phones are very rare & if you look at Zenfone 8, it packs all the top of the line flagship features

Asus Zenfone 8 vs Asus Zenfone 8 Flip

It comes with the Snapdragon 888 and has different variants which starts from 6GB + 128GB and goes all the way to 16GB + 256GB which is really good.

It has a 5.9’’ screen which is a small & compact screen, compared to iPhone 12 which has 6.1’’ it is abit smaller and will feel comfortable as well

It comes with 4000 mAh battery & with 5.9’’ screen its a decent battery which will be enough for a day’s usage. We don't have the smartphone with us but it looks like battery life will be decent enough with 30W fast charging.

Let me tell you it retains 3.5mm jack, comes with IP 68 water & Dust resistance, has Gorilla Glass Victus but it lacks Wireless Charging which should've been included in this flashphone phone

It has all the latest display features like E4 5.9’’ AMOLED screen, 120 Hz Display. Overall it's a nice and compact display with a small punch hole on the top side.

It is based on Zenfone Ui which is very similar to Stock Android and feels familiar as well.

Connectivity wise it has 5G, global version supports 16.17 5G bands not sure how many bands Indian version will get, other than that it has WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2. So it has everything in connectivity.

Now let's talk about the Zenfone 8 Flip. Yes, it comes with a flipping camera and has updated SoC. It is called Flip as it comes with a flipping camera.

This time there is not is no Pro variant - Zenfone 8 & 8 Flip thats it.Flip comes with a big 6.67’’ screen but interestingly it only has a 90 Hz fast refresh rate display but overall it's very similar.

One difference here is that it packs a 5000 mAh battery compared to 4000 mAH in Zenfone 8 but supports 30W fast charging on flip as well.

Let's talk about cameras. In zenfone 8 flip it gets a triple camera setup which flips and becomes a selfie camera as well which includes 64 MP main camera + 12 MP ultrawide + 8 MP 3X telephoto zoom lens so this flip camera is the big advantage in Zenfone 8 Flip.

Zenfone 8 comes with a dual camera. 64MP + 12 MP  but interestingly Zenfone 8 has OIS but the bigger Zenfone 8 Flip doesn't have OIS. Umm interesting combination.

When it comes to multimedia it has stereo speakers on both of the smartphones and Asus is known for its audio & speaker quality. But remember it smaller Zenfone 8 comes with 5.9’’ so multimedia experience will be little different.

Finally lets talk about price. The leaked pricing was about 700 Euros but the base variant of Zenfone 8 starts from 599 Euros ( approx 50-55K INR).

Indian pricing is generally cheaper than that of Euros. I'm expecting a price of 45-50K when it comes to India.

Zenfone 8 Flip comes in only one variant 8 GB + 256 GB which is priced 799 Euros (approx 60-65K INR) .

Let's wait for Indian pricing. I can only hope Zenfone 8 comes under 50k & 8 Flip around 60K. What do you think about indian pricing ?
